Welcome to Accenture's Kilimanjaro Challenge 2012, a life-changing trip that is open to every Accenture employee, regardless of location, level and workforce.
In line with Accenture's Skills to Succeed Corporate Citizenship programme, funds raised through this challenge will support VSO's Secure Livelihoods work - helping disadvantaged people in some of the world's poorest countries secure an income and so a future for themselves and their families. Funds will also support VSO's projects in East Africa where the trek takes place.
Take part and you will trek through five different eco-systems, sleep under a star-studded sky and watch the sun rise over the African plains from the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
This experience is enhanced by the opportunity to visit a VSO project and witness first hand the incredible things your support can achieve.
With a total of seven days trekking and an epic 'Summit Night' this is not a challenge for the fainthearted, but it is an achieveable and enjoyable one. Here are some of the reasons why:
- Anyone willing to train can participate: you don't need any prior experience as it is a non-technical trek
- Fundraising for the trek operates on a sliding scale basis so that the more money you raise, the lower your individual costs are (you could go for as little as the deposit payment and cost of your flights!)
- You can easily extend your trip out there and spend more time in Africa to explore independently.
- Any Accenture employees who sign up for the trek are entitled to sign up one non-Accenture employee to take part in the expedition and share in this memorable experience.
